NBC News reports that Judge James Boasberg has ordered the former vice president to comply with the subpoena he received in February.

He must testify in a special counsel probe that is looking into former President Donald Trump's attempts to overturn the 2020 election.

Pence's attorneys previously argued that he was protected from having to testify due to the "speech and debate" clause in the Constitution.

They say that the clause identifies Pence as part of the legislative branch, shielding him from testimony.

The judge disagrees, but did reportedly grant Pence a partial victory in that respect.

Judge Boasberg acknowledged that Pence does have some protections, but the immunity isn't enough to prevent him from testifying.

It remains to be seen whether Pence will appeal the decision.
