The Verge reports that E3 2023 has officially been canceled.

The massive summer show was set to return for the first time since 2019, but the event was called off after top industry names like Nintendo and Microsoft pulled out.

Before the announcement, the event was scheduled to take place June 13 through June 16.

.

However, The Verge reports that there had been some worrying signs for the E3 revival as June has drawn closer.

.

An email sent to employees said that the upcoming event, โ€œsimply did not garner the sustained interest necessary to execute it in a way that would showcase the size, strength and impact of our industry.โ€.

Back in January, IGN reported that Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony had all backed out of the show.

Before the event was finally canceled, IGN reported in March that neither Sega nor Tencent would be attending E3 2023.
