PM refuses to rule out future 45p tax cut

The prime minister has refused to rule out a 45p tax cut in the future, despite a seismic U-turn on scrapping the top rate of tax which had been announced in the chancellor's mini-budget.

Liz Truss says she "supports a lower, simpler tax system", but could not let a "minor part of the package distract" from the wider measures introduced.
