PM: Gorbachev changed the world ‘for the better’

The last leader of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev, has died in Moscow at the age of 91.

Boris Johnson said that Mr Gorbachev had changed the world “for the better” by giving “freedom to the countries of the former Soviet Union”.

The prime minister added that he believes the current Russian government “is intent on undoing the good that Mikhail Gorbachev did”.
