Protesters Storm AIDS Conference Demanding Global Access to Monkeypox Vaccine

Protesters disrupted a special session on monkeypox during the International AIDS Conference in Montreal, Canada, on Monday, to demand increased testing and vaccines.

Last month, the World Health Organization classified monkeypox as a 'public health emergency of international concern.'

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there are more than 25,000 cases confirmed in countries that have not historically reported monkeypox.

In the U.S., President Joe Biden has faced pressure to secure more doses of the monkeypox vaccine, as people wait in hours-long lines to receive limited doses.

On Tuesday, Biden announced FEMA's Robert Fenton as the White House National Monkeypox Response Coordinator.
