On This Day 1981: SAS Troops Storm Iranian Embassy

When gunmen from the Democratic Revolutionary Front for the Liberation of Arabistan (DRFLA) took control of the Iranian Embassy in London and seized hostages, dramatic measures were taken to regain control of the building.

Elite soldiers from the SAS were called upon to end the siege.

This was the Metropolitan Police Commissioner's statement about the use of elite forces.
