On This Day 1999: Manhunt For The Brixton Nail Bomber

The first of three consecutive nail bomb attacks in London took place after a sports bag was left at Brixton Market.

Although a suspicious trader moved the bag to a less crowded area, the bomb exploded next to an Iceland supermarket, sending four-inch nails flying through the air and injuring 48 people.

The perpetrator was eventually found to be 22-year-old David Copeland, a neo-Nazi militant who became known as the "London nail bomber".

Report by Guinnesse.
