Comets swarm Crunch to sweep back-to-back

Row - the utica comets hosted the syracuse crunch at the adirondack bank center.

The comets won last night 5-1 - this is the sixth of 14 meetings between the galaxy cup rivals this year.

Evan fitzpatrick - another highly- touted prospect of the saint louis blues - making his comets debut - getting the start in goal.

At the other end - it's spencer martin for the crunch.

--- comets controlled the play for much of the first - but the crunch seize an opportunity here.

Boris katchouk goes back door for taylor raddysh.

No chance for fitzpatrick and just like last night - raddysh puts syracuse up one.

--- bit of a strange moment here - with two and a half minutes remaining in the frame.

Some confusion after a delay and the teams exit the ice...a clock issue forces an early intermission - the teams finished the period after the break.

--- once we were back on track - in the second.

Comets power play continues to roll.

Two goals last night - and here - it's nolan stevens putting in a rebound off a bomb from jack rathbone.

Stevens' second of the year and we're tied.

--- about six minutes later - utica man up again.

Crunch though have a 2-on-1 - fitzpatrick comes up big with a stop on a rip from katchouk.

--- that'd prove to be big because just seconds later - at the other end - sam anas finds lukas jasek for the one- timer.

Jasek with his second of the season - puts the comets up 2-1.

((score)) ...jett woo scored his first professional goal in the third - and the comets hang on late to win this one 3-2.

Trent cull: execution has gotten better and better every day.

I talked to the group yesterday before the game in the morning and i said look you've been on the iceyou guys are getting betr allthe tie were.

It comes back to the quick as pros, i'm not sure about their wind and everything and having to deal with covid stuff but i've liked our game.

Our execution has gotten better and we talked a lot about our speed through the puck.

When we play like that it helps us attack and syracuse is a fast team so that's a team we have to ply like that to keep pace with those guys.

.

None .

None evan fitzpatrick: they did a great job.

For me being a little bit rusty obviously not playing in a while it's just awesome to have the guys out there putting their body on the line especially on the penalty kill late in the game there that was huge.

I'm always talking in between whistles, tv time out letting me them know that i appreciate it and it was just great.

Jett woo: it was special i think to have my first one, to be honest with you i was doubting i was ever going to get one this year so it was exciting to get that and i think to get the win against syracuse was a big one for us as well.

Comets outshot the crunch 40-18 in this game.

Next up for utica - the providence bruins in rhode island on friday afternoon at three.

The colgate women's soccer team made their 13th straight postseason
