Education Department of Jammu and Kashmir launched a special drive to bring back drop out students in far flung areas of the Union Territory.

Girls coming from poor families are the primary focus of the drive.

With a dedicated team on board, the drive is creating awareness about importance of education.

So far, 50 students have joined the classes being conducted in Khawas.

Harnaam Singh, a teacher at the school, said around 80 percent of locals in Khawas are illiterate, and so he conducted door-to-door campaign to ensure parents enroll their children into school.

The strength of students at the school is steadily rising.
