After the pandemic prevented Special Olympics Pennsylvania from holding its annual Polar Plunge, residents of Wrightsville, York County, decided to participate in the first Wrightsville River Rat Plunge on Saturday (March 6).

The event was co-hosted by the John Wright Restaurant and other agencies.

Special Olympics Pennsylvania is holding a modified event this year, asking participants to hold a "Burrr-tual Polar Pop Plunge" at home by popping a water balloon over their heads instead.
