After a good rainfall season across large areas of South Africa, the normally dry Kuruman river is flowing again for the first time in 40 years.

The river, filmed here on February 23, flows through the Kalahari between the towns of VanZylrus and Askham in the Northern Cape Province and last ran in 1976.

The filmer commented: "It is beautiful to see the river with the red dunes and Camel-thorn trees in the background.

There is even fish in the water.

Just unbelievable."
