Rainstorms cause flooding in eastern Thailand

Heavy rain fell on eastern Thailand causing flash floods on roads this afternoon (February 17).

Storms began over Pattaya before moving towards the Thai capital Bangkok shortly after 5pm.

Traffic was gridlocked across the region as the downpours caused flash floods which prevented cars from moving through the deluge.

Locals had to wade through the knee-deep floodwater, which covered roads around residential homes.

Temperatures start to rise around February and March, leading to tropical downpours before the rainy season begins.
