During Friday's impeachment trial, lawyer Michael van der Veen argued that Donald Trump's rhetoric on January 6 was protected by the U.S. Constitution's free speech guarantee.
"If the complaint of conduct is constitutional, it cannot be impeachable," van der Veen said.
