Matt Hancock confirms NHS considering plans to discharge some patients into hotels

Health Secretary Matt Hancock has said sending some patients to hotels was a“further back-up plan” only done if appropriate for the patient but “it’s notsomething we are actively putting in place”.

He said it would be for “step-down” patients only who have been in hospital but no longer need the fullhospital treatment, but are not quite ready to go home.
