MDMK's Vaiko condemn demolition of Jaffna University war memorial
As per Sri Lankan media, the decision to remove the war memorial (commemorating the Mullivaikkal massacre of 2009), at the Jaffna University was taken by Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Srisatkunarajah, 'as it was seen as an obstruction to unity and reconciliation'.
While speaking to ANI in Chennai on January 10, Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) leader, Vaiko said, "I deplore and condemn the act of demolishing the memorial erected in the Jaffna University in the memory of the Tamils killed in the genocide.
But the memory cannot be erased in our minds." "I condemn the Indian government because they haven't reacted to this," he added.
