Ambassador requested China for early approval of crew change: MEA on stranded Indians at Chinese ports

Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Anurag Srivastava reacted on ships carrying Australian coal and operated by foreign crew, including Indians, stranded at Chinese ports.

He said, "Indian Ambassador has spoken to Chinese Vice Foreign Minister and requested for early approval of crew change of stranded vessels," "But due to strict COVID control protocols, the steps detailed by Chinese authorities have to be complied with by shipping companies.

We are also exploring alternative options with the Chinese authorities," he said.
