A Village of Art in West Bengal
Artist Mrinal Mandal, founder of art non-profit Chalchitra Academy, has helped turn Laalbazar into an arts village.
The villagers, mainly daily wage labourers, have since 2018 started earning from the sale of their crafts too.
Adults, children and visitors now paint the homes together.
And tourists visit regularly, having heard of the village’s unique transformation.
