I'm here at lpd headquarters in lafayette city hall.

The lafayet police cil service commission voted hereast week to suspend fr for 168 mplete ory co duty evaluation and breathalyzer testing prior duty for one year.

He quote "failed to report for required elements of the training."

He was also suspected to have quote "over-consumed alcoholic beverages during off-duty time which resulted in actions that were found to be unbecoming of a lafayette police officer."

French was permanently suspended from lpd's k9 program and was subject to random alcohol testing for a year.

He failed one random testg his shift on october 21st.

He was immediately relieved from duty and was also taken to a medical facility for further testing.

The misconduct was brought before the civil service commission last week during a disciplinary hearing.

That's when the five- member board voted to suspend him without pay.
