Community reacts to surge of Covid-19 cases at Oroville Hospital

Some people in Oroville say they are upset that the community was not notified about the coronavirus outbreak at the local hospital.

Reporter Kristian Lopez brought their concerns to Butte County Public Health Officials.

We are following one of the largest outbreaks butte county has seen so far.

About 40 workers at oroville hospital tested positive for covid-19 - action news now reporter kristian lopez has more on how health officials and people who live there are responding to the fallout.

### kristian: some people in oroville say they are upset there was no annoucement made about the surge but butte county public health says they will not notify the public about an outbreak unless they are not able to identify close contacts.

David lachance from oroville says he has family who works at the hospital and he was upset that the community was not notified about the spike in cases.

David lachance/lives in oroville: to have that many people infected and not tell the public when people are going in and out of the emergency room, and doing tests and whatever, to not tell people that that many people are infected is nuts.

Jenawa nichols/lives in oroville: a lot of people use the hospital and if people are testing positive from the hospital, a lot of people should know about it at least.

Health officials say they have been working with the hospital to identify anyone who may have been exposed.

People who were within 6 feet of someone who was infected without ppe for more than 15 minutes.

Almaguer says they have interviewed people who contracted the virus to see what floors they were on and who they were in close contact with.
