Texas Becomes First State With More Than 1 Million Confirmed COVID-19 Cases.

Texas, the nation’s second-most populous state, has officially surpassed one million cases of COVID-19.

The state has recorded 1,010,364 cases and 19,337 deaths since the pandemic began.

Texas also set a new daily record on Tuesday, recording 10,865 new coronavirus cases.

According to state figures, an estimated 132,146 cases are currently active — the most since August 17.

An estimated 6,170 COVID-19 cases are hospitalized — the most since August 18.

The state's rising numbers come as coronavirus continues to surge in the border cities of Laredo and El Paso.

Laredo health officials report 934 currently active cases, with a total death toll of 367.

El Paso reported another 1,292 cases on Tuesday, with 27,895 currently active cases and 682 total deaths.
