Kimt news three's calyn thompson joins us live after speaking with a mayo clinic doctor about the findings of that study.xxx katie and amy ?

"* mayo clinic doctor rick kennedy tells me he's not surprised that the chemicals and disenfectants inside mouthwash will kill the virus.

But he is surprised it's thought to prevent transmission.

He says it's important to remember the study was conducted in a lab... and that petridishes are a very different environment than the human mouth or nose.

He notes while mouthwash or a nasal rinse might eliminate the virus temporarily, it will be produced again relatively quickly.xxx i don't think they should count on that as being a preventive measure or protective measure.

They should still wear masks, they should still social distance.

They'll just be able to do that with slightly fresher breath.

Doctor thanks calyn.

The studies show that more research ?

"* specifically clinical trials with people ?

"* needs to be done.///
