Flu Season Becomes A Growing Concern

Scientists and doctors are clear, flu season this year could be extremely challenging because of the addition of covid?

"*19.

Kimt news 3's jerey wall spoke with dr. andrew badley, the head of mayo clinic's covid?

"*19 research task force.

He joins us now live from mayo clinic.

Jeremy what are you learning?

Amy and katie, dr badley tells me?

"* flu patients are susceptitble to other sicknesses including pneumonia.

But this year, they will need to worry about becoming infected with covid?

"*19 as well.

Dr. badley says if you have the flu you're susceptible to contracting covid?

"*19.

And it is possible for you to get infected with both.

He tells me it's something he and his research team at mayo clinic are concerned about as this pandemic grows in the midwest.

It's probabale that if you have influenza, you will have been subsectible to get covid as well.

And we know that influenza infects the lungs and the heart, and the circulatory system and we know that covid does as well.

So we're very concered that as the pandemic of covid continues to exist and in fact grow in the midwest right now that as the flu season comes upon us, will see people with both infections who are likely to be more sick with one infection at all badley recommends you should practice the basics including wearing a mask, social distancing, and hand sanitizing.

And continue seeing your doctor for regularly scheduled visits.

Thank you jeremy.

Dr. badley is also urging everyone to get a flu shot this year.
