Katie it was an early start to the snowfall this year here in minnesota.

Farmer scott ruegg's land was coated with snow like everywhere else.

Ruegg, a second generation farmer grows corn, beans, oats, and alfalfa.

He tells me the snow fall slowed the harvest a little bit .

Still, he only needed for the snow to melt out in the fields before getting back out in them with his combine.

It's been a good year so far.

We got started pretty early really.

Right now, we've had to wait until the snow got off the corn.

Other than that, you can go if your just wanting to harvest the grain the fast?

A lot of snow, taking a long time to melt can be a major obstacle.

Snow can both freeze up the combine and ruin the corn on the ground.
