Safe at Home program aims to help domestic violence victims become survivors

Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate is promoting the program during Domestic Violence Awareness Month


Safe at Home program aims to help domestic violence victims become survivors

It's a problem that can be found in virtually every community across the country, including right here in north iowa ?

"* domestic violence.

And during this year's domestic violence awareness month ?

"* iowa secretary of state paul pate's office is making aware of a program that protects victims from their abusers.

"last year, we had 99 iowa counties that experienced one domestic violence conviction, totaling more than 2700 convictions statewide."

The safe at home program aims to give victims a sense of security.

The program allows victims' addresses to be removed from public records and provides a substit* mail fod confidential voter registation and absentee voting.

"they're able to do that without fear of their address becoming public record and it helps save lives."

The program is available for victims of domestic violence ?

"* sexual assault ?

"* trafficking or stalking ... and children who are minors.

"we hope that others in iowa spread the word that there's help for them so they can come out of the shadows and resume some
