Mph kimt news three is your hub for campaign 2020.

We've been focusing on the key races in our region.

Tonight we turn to the congressional race in minnesota's first district between incumbant republican congressman jim hagedorn and his democratic opponent dan feehan.

George recently had the opportunity to speak with both men and has more, george.

And katie this is the second time hagedorn and feehan have run against each other.

They were in a contentious race two years ago when tim walz left congress to run for governor.

"* both men ability to put country ahead of party and work across the aisle.

So when it came to making sure that the epa for instance didn't do any more of these small refinery waivers, i worked with congressman peterson, the chairman of the commitee a democrat and helped sign onto his bill for transparency in that area.

As far as small business is concerned we worked hand in hand with democrats and republicans alike and actually made a bill through the congress of the house with a democrat.

We partner on a number of things childcare issues, you name it.

I know that the oath that congresspers on takes is an oath to defend and protect the constitution.

It is not to a political leader.

It is not to a political party.

And i know that deeply well because it's the same oath i took when i was in the army.

It's the same oath that you would take.

That's how i approach leadership and that's with a willingness to call out my own party when i think they're wrong whether on foreign policy, in which democrats and republicans have had us at war for almost 20 straight years now at this point.

Or just last week when i called out speaker pelosi and the democrats for a funding bill, a continuing resolution that didn't include funding and aid for our farmers.

The race here in the first congressional district was exceedingly close last time around.

And katie, polling numbers thanks, george.

In the 2018 midterm election, hagedorn defeated feehan by zero?
