Rajasthan temple priest burnt alive over land dispute; family holds protests

A priest of a temple in Rajasthan’s Karauli area died after he was set on fire over a land dispute.

One person has, who is being called the master mind, has been arrested while a hunt is on for the rest.

The accused allegedly poured petrol on Babu Lal Vaishnav and set him on fire in Bukna village on Wednesday.

The priests family members also protested and demanded immediate arrest of all the accused in the case.

The priest in the FIR registered at Sapotra police station reportedly said that he, along with his family, used to do farming on the land within the temple premises.

Kailash Meena wanted to grab the land and upon being stopped by the priest, they burnt a portion of the tent put up in the field, in which the priest got engulfed and was burnt badly.

SP Karauli said that 6 teams had been formed to nab the accused an launch a probe into the case.
