Deputies with the lafayette parish sherif's office are investigating the death of a young child left in a car.

The sheriffs office says they recieved a call around 2:15 this evening about a child in a car on andres road off cameron street.when officials got there the two year old child was found dead.

The childs death is under investigation.

And in opelousas police are investigating a fatal shooting that claimed the life of a woman and her unborn child.

Investigators determined the victim allegedly armed herself with a gun during an argument with a former acquinaince of her current boyfriend maleke guillory.

Guillory allegedly attempted to intervievene by taking the gun from the victim then the weapon discharged hitting the victim in the shoulder the victim died from her injuries at a local hospital.

Guillory is charged with two counts of negligent homicide.

In fact seventy items are included in the agenda, and any legislation on those topics can be debated during the monthlong session.

Among the many items are the state budget, emergency powers for the governor and lawmakers, business tax breaks,covid-19 treatment and prevention, and high school athletics,.

3 if you have damage from hurricane lauara and havent registered with fema yet you now only have 30 days left to register.

Federal assistance includes help for temporary housing, rental assistance and repair or replacement of damaged property.

Additionally, grants may be available to help with other expenses such as medical and dental care, childcare, replacing essential household items, moving and storage, vehicle repairs and cleanup.

Homeowners and renters have until october 27th and you can do that online at disasterassistance.gov a fema drive-thru disaster recovery center is now open in acadia parish to assist victims of hurricane laura.the center is staffed with fema personnel who can scan documents and ask questions about assistance programs, the southside community center in rayne will be open 7 days a week from 7 a.m.

No appointments are necessary a month after hurricane laura devasted south east louisiana parishes in her pathway the calcasieu parish school board is reopening 17 schools next week.

The schools will reopen for staff and faculty on tuesday, sept.

29th while students will return friday, oct.

Martinville farm that educates children about livestock, came together to host "ponies in the park" -- including pony rides, a bake sale, plate lunches and snowballs.

All proceeds go towards fixing a local community membe's home after hurricane laura caused extensive damage.

Princess jhane daughter goes to and says sh's not comfortable with shanese lewis - concerned parent sot 9 sec.

Lewis says asking a parent and their child to sign this waiver is unfair because you are acknowledging that you do't plan to practice the same safety precautions that you would during a lesson.

Lewis adds that face to face learning is the social interaction that children need but not if it comes at a risk to their health.

Lewis says that she will not be signing the waiver and that i's unfortunate because that takes time away from her daughter hanging out with friends.

Lewis says the same safety precautions being taken in the classroom need to be taken in extra curricular activities as well.
