Demonstration held against land encroachment in front of Chinese Embassy in Nepal

A group of people demonstrated in front of Chinese Embassy in Nepal's capital city Kathmandu on September 23 against recent land encroachment by China.

Demonstrators held placards and banners reading 'Back off China' message after Nepali land was encroached to construct 9 infrastructures in Lapcha Bagar area of Nepal's Humla District.

Chief District Officer Chiranjibi Giri have toured the area earlier on Wednesday where he was sent back by Chinese forces claiming it to be their land and building were constructed on their land.

Soon after discovering about illegal construction of infrastructures in Nepali land by Chinese side, it has been reported that pillar number 11 in the area is now not traceable.

The Chinese side has built buildings at a distance of around two kilometers from border in Lapcha Limi area of Humla District.

China in the recent years has been carrying out construction works near the border with Nepal for several years.

While the Government of Nepal has remained mum over the issue, the Chinese Mission in Nepal has issued a release claiming the building are built in their side instead asking Nepali authorities to verify the border points.

"The buildings mentioned in the media have been verified to be on the Chinese side of the China-Nepal border.

The Nepali side may make verification again," Chinese Embassy spokesperson said today.

Area now encroached by China is also said to offer view of Kailash Mansarovar which lies in the Tiber Autonomous Region.
