Harmony's 'Monster Bash' postponed due to Pandemic

Rochester and pine island starting this new this morning on daybreak.

If you had nightmares of visiting "minnesota haunted houses" number one attraction this year... i'm sorry to say that won't be happening.

"monster bash" in harmony was created to raise money for the arts and theatre departments at fillmore central high school so they can perform.

Kimt news 3's madelyne watkins checked in to see how postponing the haunted house this year will impact the kids.

Madelyne, are they doing anything else to still raise some money?/// calyn.

While guests can't be frightened at "monster bash" this year... the president is a little frightened at the thought of not opening the doors.

"*profit that students can work at and get school credit to go on a trip.

They've been doing it for the past eight years now and have raised almost 88 thousand dollars.

The president, jay masters, tells me this is such a big project that they work on it year around.

In addition to paying for the students... they have a mortgage, insurance, taxes and utilities.

Once you add all that up... it's almost 12 thousand dollars a year just to have the doors open for a couple weekends.

He says they didn't want to postpone this year... but it was the smartest decision as it wouldn't be possible to keep every nook and cranny sanitized.

Don't worry though... they're already planning to "we have to think positively.

It could be very easy to be depressed and upset that we're not able to do a haunt and able to help the kids this year, but our board of directors is dedicated and determined that next year's haunt is going to be bigger and better than anything we've ever done.

It's shaping up that it indeed is going to be that way."
