Singers, composers collaborate in Kashmir to promote musical heritage

Kashmir valley has no dearth of talented singers of different genres including famous sufi.

Singers, composers have come together to promote rich classical music of Jammu and Kashmir at a global stage.

They are coming up with an album 'Qaraar'.

They come up with the project as studios reopened after a hiatus of almost a year.

They were closed over security situation in the valley and later coronavirus pandemic.

Renowned singer and music composer of Kashmir, Waheed Jeelani and a group of singers came forward to restart the recordings in studios with a new concept aimed to preserve the rich Kashmiri music.

This is the first initiative taken by these music lovers aimed to involve several singers of the Valley to prepare a special song titled 'Wattan' for the 'Qaraar' album.

"The reason why we have started this initiative is to provide an opportunity to our Kashmiri artists.

After a long time we are able to resume recording in studios, courtesy relaxations from the government but we are keeping in mind all the necessary guidelines," Waheed Jeelani told ANI.

Singer Jameela Khan said that all the different genres of singers performing together is a good thing.

"It feels great that recording studios have now opened up," she added.
