'Don't know their party affiliation': Ex-Navy officer who was attacked in Mumbai

The Retired Navy officer who was attacked in Mumbai spoke to media.

Madan Sharma said he was receiving threats for forwarding a message.

Sharma added that he doesn't know the attackers' party affiliation.

The video message had cartoons of several political leader.

"I received threat calls for a message that I had forwarded.

Around 8-10 people attacked & beat me up.

I was in Navy and have worked for the nation.

Don't think a government like this should exist," he said.

Daughter of the former Navy officer, Dr Sheela, said, "My father was being threatened over phone calls.

Some people came and asked him to come downstairs.

The moment my father went downstairs, they attacked him.

The attackers belonged to Shiv Sena.

We have registered an FIR.

Later, police came to our place and insisted on taking my father with them." The incident was captured on cctv camera installed in building complex in Kandivali.

Sheela alleged that her father was thrashed by Shiv Sena activists.
