Illness forces Japanese PM Abe to stand down

Shinzo Abe, Japan’s longest-serving prime minister, says he is resigningbecause a chronic illness has resurfaced.

Concerns about his health began overthe summer and grew this month when he visited a Tokyo hospital two weeks in arow for unspecified check-ups.
