Flash flood risk in Gujarat, NDRF rescues stranded people from affected areas

Parts of Gujarat have been reeling under heavy floods.

An NDRF team rescued stranded people from flood-hit areas in Morbi.

At least 30 people were evacuated from Morbi's Chikhli village.

The rescued people were later handed over to district administration.

Rains have pounded several areas of Gujarat in the last few days.

Low-lying areas have been witnessing severe waterlogging.

Central Water Commission (CWC) has warned of flash flooding in the next 12 hours.

On Monday, IMD had predicted extremely heavy rainfall over Gujarat.

Rivers swelled and lakes overflew following heavy showers.

A high alert was sounded for 108 dams as they received heavy water inflow.

So far, Gujarat has received 94.57 % of the average annual rainfall.

Kutch received the highest 162 % rainfall in the state.

Eight state highways among 138 roads have been closed for traffic.

Fishermen have also been advised not to venture into Arabian sea.
