Pavement dweller stands in rain for 8 hours to alert commuters about manhole

Keeping aside her selfless acts, a pavement dweller in Mumbai stood for eight hours on waterlogged road to warn commuters about a manhole.

Kanta Murti Kalan opened the manhole at Tulsi Pipe Road to let out flooded water.

"The road was flooded with water; I wanted to help others.

I opened the hole to let water out, and in order to avoid any tragedy, I decided to keep standing at the spot.

No official came to look into the matter," Kalan said.

The flower vendor's tent and savings were washed away in Mumbai's heavy rain.

Kalan's sense of social responsibility brought her to spotlight.
