Ram Temple Trust responds to Shankaracharya's remark on foundation laying timing

Prime Minister Narenedra Modi will lay the foundation stone of Ayodhya's Ram temple on August 5.

Member of temple Trust, Mahant Kamal Nayan Das, said there is no need of 'muhurat' for the event.

Das's comment comes after Shankaracharya of Jyotishpeeth objected to the timing of the foundation laying.

Swaroopanand Saraswati had said that the time chosen to lay foundation stone was inauspicious.

"People of Ayodhya will celebrate the day as Diwali.

People will lit 'diyas' at their respective houses," Das said.

Responding to Shankaracharya's remark, he said, "We don't need any 'muhurat' for the event.

PM Modi will come to lay foundation stone." He further added that three-day rituals will be held and they will ensure social distancing during the event.

Elaborate preparations are being planned for three-day Vedic rituals.

Rituals will begin on August 3 and end with a 'bhumi pujan' on August 5.

Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra Trust is overseeing temple construction.

Temple Trust has said there won't be over 200 people at the ceremony.

Following 'bhumi pujan', the construction of the temple will begin.

The construction is set to begin nine months after the Supreme Court ruled in favour of Mandir side in dispute.
