FORT VALLEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — After Fort Valley government officials closed facilities due to three employees testing positive for coronavirus, some services have returned to normal operations.

Our top story tonight at 6... fort valley government officials say... services are back to normal tonight.

This comes after closing some facilities ... due to three employees testing positive for the coronavirus.

41 nbc's rashaad vann has more on what the city is doing to stay safe... while conducting business and providing services.

Fort valley municipal complex and fire headquarters were closed monday for cleaning and decontamination, after 3 employees tested positive for covid-19.

Spurgeon: we got a private firm to come in and clean, not only city hall but also the entire municipal complex the police department and all the fire stations spurgeon says residents who need to conduct business at city hall, can now do so by visiting in person, but city officials will work remotely for the next three months.

Spurgeon: we've done some other preventative things, as far as installing plexiglass, we are requiring masks when we enter the building, we do temperature checks everyday for our employees.

So we are trying not to eliminate services and go back to when we were completely shut down and we are trying to come up with ways where we can still be innovative.

Fort valley is taking more safety precautions to continue to provide services during the pandemic.

Spurgeon: we are probably going to increase our testing because to be quite honest with you this is the first time something like this has happened since the beginning of the pandemic.

We have been very lucky to be honest with you, but what we will do is continue our testing protocol, our temperature taking protocol and we are going to follow the cdc guidelines as far as quarantining and everything.
