Experts: We Understand Zilch About Kids And COVID-19, So Here's How To Handle School

At present, there is scant data on the effects of the novel coronavirus COVID-19 in children, and children's role in virus transmission.

That's why experts said Tuesday that decisions on whether to open schools in the fall should be based on the spread of the disease in local areas.

According to UPI, Duke University specialists in child health, infectious diseases, and public policy spoke with reporters in a conference call.

They said rulings on school reopenings should be left to local leaders because of variation in virus spread from community to community.

A day earlier, two of America's largest school districts -- Los Angeles and San Diego counties in California -- announced plans to hold classes online in the fall.
