A deli is offering up a monstrous 8,000 calorie pizza which has left even the most prolific competitive eaters struggling to gobble the 1 METRE long pie up.Christian Lawlor, 36, was inspired to create the enormous pizza after a trip to Italy where he discovered they served long rectangular pizzas with different toppings.Christian, who owns the Yorkshire Deli, in Wakefield, West Yorks., says the £40 pizza is usually shared between six people as it is so large. But they recently had competitive eater Adam Moran in their shop who tried to tackle the beast but was unable to scoff it all down. Pizza lovers can have a mix of their favourite toppings separated into multiple tranches of the 3.3 ft-long pizza. The cheesy creation is not for the faint of heart as you'll have to munch up nearly a week of your typical calorie intake in one sitting.Christian, from Wakefield, West Yorks., said: "It takes just a few minutes from start to finish to make - but a whole lot longer to finish."We had a professional eater come in and try to finish it but he couldn't manage - and he's eaten some massive meals in his lifetime. "I've certainly never seen a pizza so big in my lifetime and neither did the professional who came for the challenge."I couldn't even begin to think about eating all of that pizza, and I consider myself a big pizza eater."The pizzas are baked in a stone deck oven - which is typically used for baking - which is cranked up to 320 degrees for just 90 seconds before the doughy delight is ready. The dad-of-two added: "It's great because we put different toppings on it so you can have your favourite toppings or a mix of different ones to try new things."Rocket, Italian sausage, onions, classic Margarita.

Anything you want."We just love pizza and we're big pizza eaters, so when we got the deli I wanted to sell pizza as well."There are few joys in life like enjoying a nice drink and a slice."Christian says he got the inspiration after a trip to Rome and wanted to share that experience with people in the UK.He said: "We got the inspiration to make it after a trip to Rome where they cook massive rectangular pizzas and you buy a slice by weight."I loved being out drinking Frascati and enjoying pizza and I wanted to bring that back to the UK."I thought it would be nice to get a really long one and get people to share it - as food is a social event in Italian culture."It's messy, it's fun, and most importantly, it's delicious."After selling 11 of them this week, they are now considering opening up the metre-long pizza challenge when they finally re-open, which will be free to anyone who can complete the calorie-laden task.
