Our top story at 6... the bibb county school district will open its doors september 7th--the day after labor day.

In a school board meeting tuesday night...members addressed issues ranging from graduation to virtual learning.

41nbc jatrissa wooten ... spoke with a school board member who says.... with covid 19 cases increasing--the opportunity to walk across the stage .... or attend in-person classes is not looking good.

He says the district is deciding how they will operate.

Sot: daryl morton: president bibb county school board "we are purchasing additional technology to make sure that everybody has a device" bibb county school board president daryl morton says if covid19 cases continue to climb---the virtual learning option is what it will be.

Morton says virtual learning for the 20-21 school year will differ from the end of the last school year.

Bibb county teachers are more knowledgeable and skilled at providing students a better experience.

As far as graduation-- "will have a virtual graduation to maximize their safety " as of tuesday, the north central health district says the number of covid cases spiked in bibb county.

Sot: michael hokanson: north central health district "we are sitting at just under 1350 cases" hokanson says the number of cases jumped across the state.

The health district found that most new reported cases are from those ages of 18 to 35.
