Tippecanoe County is spending less money per capita than every county except one in the state of Indiana.

Of local government finance released a report this evening noting every county's expenditures from 2018 and 2019.

Tippecanoe county ranked 90th after spending a little less than 800 dollars per capita this year.

That is money spent on things like roads, education and law enforcement.

Bob plantenga says half of the funds comes from property taxes while another quarter come from income tax.

The county auditor adds the money used shows how cost effectiveness and practicality make a difference.

I think it is a very good look and it also kind of says even with the law enforcement this is only looking at county expenditures but with law enforcement we each rely on each other.

Plantenga says he does expect expenditures to go up next year due to the 2020 increase in the county income tax.

As we previously reported a point-one- eight public safety tax was approved to be added to the already 1.1 percent county income tax.
