Defense Secretary Criticizes Donald Trump's Response To Civil Unrest

Defense Secretary Jim Mattis accused President Donald Trump of trying to divide America.

According to Reuters, he denounced the militarization of the U.S. response to civil unrest.

People all over the U.S. and around the world have protested the killing of George Floyd by a police officer.

Mattis said: “Donald Trump is the first president in my lifetime who does not try to unite the American people.” He said a military response creates a “false conflict” between the military and civilians.
