Villagers in MP's Jhabua keep their water-filled drums locked to avoid theft

Water shortage has left no choice for residents in MP's Jhabua but to lock their water drums. Residents of Jhonsar village store water in drums and keep it locked, in a bid to prevent it from being stolen.

They said, "Entire Panchayat is facing acute water crisis.

Therefore sometimes water gets stolen.

So we keep it locked.

We fetch water from 3 km away." "Power pump and handpumps are installed there.

We'll make further arrangements under Under Jal Jeevan Mission.

Water level goes down there during summer, so they face problem during.

If handpumps are not working, we'll get them repaired," said NS Bhide, Public Health Engg Dept, Jhabua.
