35 lakh migrants availed benefit from 2600 special trains: MHA

Ministry of Home Affairs Joint Secretary, Punya Salila Srivastava informed that after looking at the situations post lockdown, Home Ministry released an advisory to all states and UTs to take quick measures to avoid the situation where migrant labourers commute.

She said that the States and UTs were also advised to make proper arrangements of shelter and food for the migrants.

MHA Joint Secretary further said, "More than 2600 special trains have run till date, more than 35 lakh migrants have availed the benefits of these trains."
