Health leaders warn the isolation and daily focus on fear and death is taking a heavy toll on people.

Action news now reporter mackenzie drigo spoke to mental health experts and shows us what you can do if the pandemic is getting to you.

The pandemic is exacting a heavy price when it comes to people's mental health.

Butte county behavorial director scott kennellly says they've seen an increase of youth domestic violence and substance abuse calls "we hit our typical monthly number of calls for youth half way through the month, so if we project that through the rest of the month and that continues then we can be seeing a 100 percent increase in youth crisis of calls this month," but kennelly says one issue stood out more than the rest - "more youth with suicidal thoughts," standup "mental health experts tell me the best way to cope with stress anxiety and depression during the pandemic is to get outside in the sunshine and exercise," sot patrick townsend- community member "i think definitely just being out in the sunlight for 30 minutes and hour a day will help anyone dealing with their stress," 2020 chico state graduate audree hernandez has her own mental stress plan in place.

"trying to workout at home, trying to be around family, message friends, facetime friends, lots of netflix kennelly hopes people use any available services around to get through this trying time.
