CM Gehlot Kicks off 'Indira Priyadarshini Baby Kit' scheme for newborns

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot started the free of cost 'Indira Priyadarshini Baby Kit' distribution program for newborn girls in Government hospitals.

CM Gehlot handed pink color kits to two mothers Sonam and Meenakshi.

Scheme is started to prevent the risk of infection from wrapping infants in old clothes and to protect them from hypothermia.

CM Gehlot had announced this scheme in the state budget of 2019-20.

Girls born in state hospitals of Jaipur district will receive pink color baby kits.

Kits distribution program is likely to start in other districts soon.

To reduce the infant mortality rate, blue color kits will also be distributed to boy child from July 2020.

Under the Indira Priyadarshini Baby scheme, kits will be given to more than 11 lakh newborn boys and girls born in government medical institutions every year.

It will cost about 10 crore rupees per year to the government.
