There are a few new rules this year for anglers looking to get out on opening weekend

Guidelines for fishing opener

Coronavirus the minnesota fishing opener is just three days away... it will already look a little different this year since the governor's celebration was postponed.

And ???t news three's?

Is live in rochester with a look at new restrictions you're being asked to follow.

Live if i hope to cast a line anytime in the near future... the minnesota department of natural resources is telling me i have to stay close to home... and maintain social distancing to do it.

This all because the governor's sta?a?home order is still in effect..

Anglers are banned from making overnight stays... should take all needed supplies with them?

And only go as far as you can travel and return on a single tank of gas... or one charge for electric vehicle drivers.

They also need to keep more than six feet away from anyone thet don't live with while on the docks or shores.

I had a chance to talk with comissioner?

Sarah strommen?

About why this is such a big deal this year.xxx that really is designed to protect particularly those virus vulnerable populations in some of our rural communities whether that be older populations or groups like our native american population that have a higher incidence of underlying conditions that can make them more vulnerable to the covi?19 virus.

While the ??r is asking you to abide by these new guidelines this weekend... they don't plan to issue any citations.
