Butte County announces delivery task force to help those advised to quarantine

The Butte County Department of Employment and Social Services organized a Delivery Task Force for individuals who have been told by a medical professional to isolate or quarantine, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

(nats: box opening) "we recognize that we have a population of elders and vulnerable populations."

Shelby boston is the director of butte county employment and social services.

She says some quarantined patients don't have a support system.

"we the county determined that we can set up this delivery system in collaboration with 211 and our local county run call center."

(standup:) the task force can deliver basic necessities such as groceries and prescriptions.

They drop it off right at your door step without contact (nats: someone opening box) "there is not a fee for the delivery however the individual is required to make the purchase for the goods on their own" so far the task force made three deliveries throughout the county since it started on march 30th.

(nats: box opening) "i think we are doing a big service to the community because they are people who have already gone through their service and their network.

Bernie downer is also on the delivery service task force.

He says besides delivering food and medicine - the task force helps people who can't afford groceries "we were able to coordinate with the local food bank and have a driver go by and pick up what they needed and drop it off" the service is available monday through saturday.

The delivery task force delivers from 8 a-m to 5 p- m.

If the grocery store has everything the patient needs available... the task force can deliver it same day.
