Trump Admin to Pay Hospitals to Treat Uninsured Coronavirus Patients

Trump Admin to Pay Hospitals to Treat Uninsured Coronavirus Patients According to reports, a federal stimulus package will be used to make the payments.

The plan could be released as early as Friday.

Federal government payments made to hospitals will be conditional.

In order to receive stimulus funds, hospitals will not be allowed to bill uninsured patients or generate unexpected charges.

Standard practice mandates that uninsured patients treated at hospitals pay the difference between cost of care and what the government pays.

This practice would not be allowed under the new guidelines.

The Trump Administration has been criticized for not allowing special crisis enrollment into the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare.

According to a 2007 report, should the coronavirus pandemic reach historical proportions, U.S. hospitals could see a loss of $3.9 billion.
