Stay wit .

>> there is an urgent need for food tonight in st.

Joseph's.

Joining me now is executive director of the crossing, and we're going to talk about the nutritional center, and donna wilson the community health liaison.

Thanks for being here.

>> thanks.

>> so tell us what is the need tonight and why is there such a big need >> we have a shortage of food, simply because grocery stores are not having excess food to give, so that puts an extreme shortage of food for people that are really struggling to purchase food.

>> and so, danny, can you tell us a little bit about what kind of food you're in need of, because we hate to hear that anybody is hungry and we want to see what we can do about it.

It's not just perishable food, but you're requesting bread, too?

>> yeah, bread is a much needed daily item they need for their diet and that seems to be in short supply, so we could use the pressure bread and the non-perishable items. >> how many are you serving?

>> there are eight or 900 families that right now need food, is that correct?

>> yes.

>> to put this in perspective for us, obviously, we're dealing with the coronavirus so safely drop off food to you or to mosaic, what do you recommend we do, donna.

>> we're planning a donation drive wednesday, march 25th.

We're going to have two locations, one will be at the mosaic main campus, the north side of the parking garage.

There will be signage there, and the other one will be at the crossing main building on locust, just 8th street and turn left on locust and drop it off.

You don't have to get out of the car.

There will be volunteers there no pick that up from you, and you can just keep going, so that's going to be from the hours of 6:30 a.m.

To 6:00 p.m.

On wednesday, and the items can be anything from macaroni and cheese to canned vegetables, canned fruit.

The reason we ask for perishable, it's more stable on the shelf and does not require refrigeration on site not knowing what the weather will be.

Anything you can think of, peanut butter, things like that, we have a lot of kids out of school and more people to feed in the household during the day, but 8 or 900 families are served monthly from the nutrition center, so any help would be most appreciated.

>> okay, one last question for you real quick, if people want to donate money instead of canned goods, how can they do that.

>> send that to the crossing, and at 701 south 8th street.

>>> okay, guys, thanks so much for joining me tonight.

We super appreciate you coming.
