World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told a virtual press conference on Friday that it was the first time that Wuhan has not reported any new cases of coronavirus since the outbreak started there.

"Wuhan provides hope for the rest of the world that even the most severe situation can be turned around," the WHO chief said.
"Of course we must exercise caution.
The situation can be worse, but the experience of cities and countries that have pushed back this virus give hope and courage to the rest of the world." According to a Reuters tally, there were over 12,000 coronavirus cases and over 200 deaths linked to coronavirus in the United States as of early Friday afternoon.
